State Representative Valencia Stovall recently hosted a luncheon for Clayton County principals and parent liaisons from District 74 on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. At the luncheon, Rep. Stovall informed school leaders of her legislative duties and ways her office can connect them to various resources.
“It is my hope that the attendees walked away with new strategies to improve access to resources for the students and families they serve,” said Rep. Stovall. “It is always a challenge for policy makers and educators to understand one another, and I believe this luncheon was a positive first step in fostering stronger relations between school and government leaders.”
The luncheon featured presentations from Rep. Stovall and representatives from Lakeview Behavioral Health System, Riverwoods Behavioral Health System, The Jason Foundation, Inc. and Triumph College Prep. During her presentation, Rep. Stovall encouraged school leaders to utilize resources provided by local, state and federal governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations to meet needs within their schools.
